Hello!
I am the high school library media specialist at Haslett High School in Haslett, Michigan. I live in East Lansing and am finishing my second masters degree this summer in Educational Technology. I am the library media specialist but I am also one of two technology coaches at the high school. So I am constantly working with staff and students to incorporate technology that will improve the learning process in every classroom. I look forward to learning some new things this summer and working online with all of you in this class!

I spent a lot of time this past year at Haslett HS working with the 9th grade biology teacher on incorporating aspects of universal design for learning into his classroom. It was a part of the Project SPARKLE school psych training grant I've mentioned before. I spent the fall semester observing his instruction and the students to come up with some potential areas to target. Then, in the spring, we selected an area to implement and measure its effectiveness. We ended up focusing on increasing student engagement and understanding of content through technology-based instruction and the use of interactive web activities for students. We measured the effectiveness of this addition to instruction through teacher and student surveys and systematic on and off-task observation. It was pretty neat. In fact, you and a few students may have come to help us out with the computer/projector at one point!
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I think I remember that! I didn't know that was what you were doing there. I hope you had a positive experience!
ReplyDeleteWhat defines Web 2.0 these days? The Web has grown so much, and applications keep evolving, it seems like we've come a long way from what was initially defined as Web 2.0. Is it time for Web 3.0?
